TALE OF TWO SISTERS

Once upon a time ... (but somehow around WW2) two sisters were born. One was rich and ugly, the other pretty and poor. The ugly was sitting at home , cultivating hatred against others and devising means how to produce harm. The pretty was outgoing, open, loved people and tried to work for the good. But she was poor, poor, poor....

Nobody knows well when exactly science splitted into the public &published, official, known, and the other - non-public, un-published, unofficial ,unknown.... Methods , tools and brains are similiar but what differs them is - money.

Best universities in the world command yearly budgets in excess of one billion dollars , which is a lot comparing to yearly budgets of education ministries in many small-to-medium countries. But only largest car makers spend 5x more for their R&D departments (no wonder that they still propose 200 kW / 200 kmh cars instead of slow, clean&safe commuters).

And how much more then spends the even less-visible science?

Official scientists are paid for publishing (publish, or perish...). Those working for dunkle Seite are paid for non-publishing, but correspondingly much better. Guess , who produces more hard results? And, considering that in science, one invention spawns usually multiple progeny, where are they now?
