BRAINET
The whole generation comes of age , for which a concept of " insular thinking" is as obsolete as italian frescos versus video games.
But actually not about that is this addendum to the blog;
it just recalls to my mind a certain paradox, which surprises me always when I read literature of 18th or 19th - century .
These authors worked really hard so that their masterpieces carry higher values: moral, ethical ,edifying, elevated.
In short: their books were seriously meant to make the world a better place.
Avoided (in general, less some exceptions) drastic scenes, bad language , blasphemy, explicit sexuality (books by Mr.DeSade belong rather to clinical, not artistic category). Appealed to empathy, compassion, aesthetic - in other words to "higher" human values. And of course - were full of religion.
It stays in stark contrast to cultural values presented by todays cinema or games (who reads the books any longer...?)
But results in upbringing of the populace were similar, if not worse: people made wars and slaughtered each other equally eagerly when raised on lectures of Bible only, as on watching "Texan Chainsaw Massacre".
Which makes me think , that perhaps I'm in passing minority of those who appreciated individual, undisturbed and free thought beyond mental commune...
